Endeavor Engineering has extensive experience in the design and implementation of packet switched networks. This includes both the LAN and WAN.
The last 15 years have seen the explosive growth of networked communications. When comparing networked communications to individual point-to-point communications of the past, there are numerous benefits to the modern approach, such as automatic message routing, simultaneous communication of multiple protocols, simple addition of changes, and many more.
A byproduct of the widespread and ubiquitous use of personal computers in our business and personal lives is a tremendous increase in the use of data systems in all aspects of the business environment. Computers are cheap, powerful, plentiful, and proven. In a similar fashion, the explosion of network communication to connect and enhance these devices - as exemplified by the internet - is driving a profound change in the data system world. Communication has moved from serial point-to-point to networked designs, for a relatively low cost. Similar to the increased use of computers, if designed and maintained properly, the use of networked communications in a data system can usually greatly enhance its functionality.
Networked communications is here to stay and is the predominant communications technology used in data system design. Ethernet communications interfaces are the standard implemented by most vendors of data system equipment.
As with any technology, the design and implementation details can make or break the end result. Networks are well understood by many, but they should be well thought out, and they don't design themselves. The design details become especially important in the design of secure and/or real-time systems. This includes both the LAN and WAN.
